The LHS Science Department strives to promote science literacy and competence to all students in preparation for a productive life outside of school by providing meaningful and relevant learning experiences.
Teaching 21st Century Skills
We are working to help our students create a firm science foundation upon which to continue into their lives. We are focusing on emphasising written and verbal communication skills in collaborative environments. We stress creativity when developing solutions to problems and scenarios with an emphasis on critical thinking at all stages of the problem solving process.
What you can expect from the Science Department
We are working to make sure every student to walk into our classrooms leaves with information and skills to continue to learn and grow. Our content may be difficult to learn, but by pushing through, out students can cultivate and develop critical thinking skills that will help them throughout their lives. We constantly work with students during class, as well as before and after school to help prepare them for the EOC and NC Final exams in our contents. We are constantly exploring and working to provide courses and lessons for our students that exist outside of the 'required' classes to help our students see the broad range of science disciplines that are out there.
